Civil War Author/Historian — Patrick A. Schroeder
was born January 1, 1968, at Fort Belvoir, VA.
Patrick attended Stuarts Draft High School in Augusta County, VA.
In the spring of 1990, he graduated Cum Laude with a B.S. in
Historical Park Administration from Shepherd College, Shepherdstown, WV.
He has a M.A. in Civil War History from Virginia Tech.
From the summer of 1986-1993, Patrick worked as a seasonal living
history interpreter at Appomattox Court House National Historical Park.
In 1993, he wrote Thirty Myths About Lee’s Surrender,
which is currently in its tenth printing.
From 1994–1999, he was employed at Red Hill, the Patrick Henry
National Memorial. From 1999-2002,
Patrick was an independent researcher. Patrick,
and his wife, Maria, have written, edited, and/or published sixteen Civil War
titles, which you can find all here on this site in our Catalog. Patrick and
Maria now reside in Lynchburg, VA. Patrick is
the full-time Historian at Appomattox Courthouse
National Historic Park, Appomattox, VA. Maria Dorsett Schroeder, Writer/Poet, Editor, & Graphic Artist, was born November 10, 1973, in Roanoke, VA, and calls her home place Franklin County, Virginia. She attended Franklin County High School and attended Virginia Western Community College, graduating in 1994 with Office Systems Technology and Medical Secretary Associate degrees, and has continued her education at Central Virginia Community College and with other on-line courses. Maria met Patrick as he worked on his Master’s thesis at Virginia Tech, the thesis formed his fourth book, We Came To Fight: The History of the 5th New York Veteran Volunteer Infantry, Duryee’s Zouaves (1863-1865), ©1998. Maria married Patrick in June of 1994, and shortly thereafter, they founded Schroeder Publications. Together,
they create the perfect author/publishing team--Maria with her
English and editing expertise, bookkeeping skills, and graphic design
studies--combined with Patrick's deep knowledge base of history, research
expertise and his passionate desire to preserve the stories of those heroic
individuals that helped to shape our country as we know it today. Welcome to our online book store!
